The new bridge is located around 850 m far from the existing one (built in the XII century), and it will allow crossing the Arno river safely. Furthermore, the vehicle traffic will be moved from the existing to the new bridge, allowing the future restoration and conservative rehabilitation of the historical bridge.

The bridge is part of a larger project that includes improving the road layout and connections of the entire area.
