IZTUETA BRIDGE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY PUT IN PLACE

10/2021

The new Iztueta Bridge has been moved to its final position. Relocation works started last Saturday, and the new structure has been carrying trains since this morning.
FHECOR developed the demolition project of the old Iztueta Viaduct (in Donostia, Spain) as well as the construction project for the new railroad bridge. The construction process took into account the requirements of the Railroad Administration and the City Council. The new steel structure was previously assembled on top of concrete pile walls close to the railways. These past days it has been horizontally moved to its final position, using jacks and rollers. The adjacent existing trussed arch bridge was also painted and the tracks and catenaries were put in place. The train traffic cut lasted just a few days, during the holidays in Spain.
The next step involves excavating underneath the new bridge between the pile walls to execute the new connecting road between the Egia neighborhood , Gros and the City Center.
See here a timelapse with the moving process.
