Assessment report on the current state and actions to be taken for the improvement of the existing bridges over the Guadalmedina River to connect the service areas of the Port of Málaga.
Services include principal inspection, special inspection, load test project, and repair report for the Pescadería Bridge and Vial Litoral del Oeste Bridge.
The first bridge connects the service areas of the Port of Málaga and was built in May 1981. It consists of three oblique isostatic spans, each about 24 meters long and 12 meters wide in total. The deck is formed by four prefabricated prestressed beams.
The second bridge, the Vial Litoral del Oeste bridge, has been in operation for more than 30 years. It has a length of 101 meters, divided into three spans of approximately 36, 34, and 31 meters. The deck is made of reinforced concrete slab, prestressed and longitudinally lightened. The bridge is arranged with two roadways of 10.75 meters each, allowing for the accommodation of three lanes per roadway.
This work will allow the Port of Málaga to assess the current state of conservation of both bridges and have information of the different load states the briges may be subjected, taking into account that current requirements are higher than those that existed when they were designed and built.
