This design was submitted to the contest for a new bridge over the Tagus River located next to the Roman bridge of Alcántara.
The proposed solution is a suspended structure, which rests on the two slopes of the valley. Its deck has great slenderness, since it is supported by a system of cables, which are anchored in the two counterweights integrated in the two river banks. The bridge, of classic inspiration, but with a very contemporary design, tries to make the structure as transparent as possible to minimally interfere with the views of the Alcantara Bridge.
