Gordie Howe International Bridge over Detroit River

Detroit (USA) - Windsor (Canada)

Structural typology: CABLE STAY BRIDGES
Date: June, 2024
Owner: Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority
Scope: tender design, detailed design and technical support

The new Gordie Howe International Bridge, between #Detroit (MI) and #Windsor (ONT), will provide for additional crossing at the busiest trade corridor between #Canada and the #USA. It will improve international connectivity, addressing future traffic needs with six lanes. The main bridge, with an 853 m clear span, will be the longest cable-stayed span in North America when completed.

The construction of this colossal bridge keeps progressing, with the finishing of the tower foundations in the last weeks by the Bridging North America construction team, formed by Dragados Canada, Inc., Fluor Corporation, and Aecon Group Inc.

FHECOR ingenieros consultores is very pleased to be part of the design team of the main bridge, along with CARLOS FERNANDEZ CASADO, S.L. (CFCSL) and AECOM, among others. It is really satisfying to see part of the work of the entire team literally emerging from the ground and reaching for the sky.
