In 2017, the Norman Foster Foundation opened its doors in the palace of the Duke of Plasencia in Madrid. The courtyard of the palace is the setting of a canopy, created by the Spanish sculptor Cristina Iglesias, which provides shade for the façade of a new Pavilion.

Fhecor has been in charge of the design of the sculture’s supporting structure, made of stainless steel cables and connection elements.

The design of the supporting structure is based on the funicularity concept and an interactive tool has been developed to define its geometry. Furthermore, the complex behavior for wind actions has been investigated with the support of a wind tunnel
