The Aquatic Sports Centre building in Madrid is composed of three intimately related structures in form of glass boxes: Olympic-sized swimming pools and diving pools, waterpolo and warm-up pools and a central service building. Due to celebrations of open-air competitions, the roof over the central structure (110 x 80m), containing the Olympic pool, is mobile.10 meters above the borders of the pools, there are seven boxes: one, which is 110.0m in length and six smaller ones which contain stands which may be dismantled so
permitting multiple usage.

The foundation was laid with pre-cast concrete piles and reinforced concrete pile-caps. The structure is composed of 0.3m deep concrete slabs which are supported upon reinforced concrete diaphragm walls and columns with spans of 10 x 10m. The steel roofs are composed of different truss configurations and large span beams.
