CONSTRUCTION WORKS UPDATE: BRIDGE OF CEBÚ

The cable stayed bridge of Cebu reached last week a critical milestone with the construction of the key segment of the main span. With the closure of the main span, the structure of the cable stayed bridge is now completed after three years of construction. We would like to congratulate the people involved in the design and construction of this important infrastructure. FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores carried out the Independent Checking Engineering of the main cable stayed bridge and the rest of bridges included in the project. The main span of the cable-stayed bridge is 390m long, with a concrete deck almost 27m wide and supported by a single set of cables in its centerline. Together with the heavy lateral forces produced by the typhoons and the potential earthquakes existing in this region, these outstanding dimensions made Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) a remarkably challenging project. The project is financed and promoted by the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC). The design engineering of the bridges was provided by CARLOS FERNANDEZ CASADO, S.L. (CFCSL) and SENER, and the construction works have being carried out by the joint venture between ACCIONA Infraestructuras, First Balfour and D.M. CONSUNJI, INC. (DMCI). Picture from @CCLEXexpressway.
