CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR A NEW FOOTBRIDGE IN ORIHUELA

ADIF AV, the Spanish high-speed rail administrator, has recently announced a new contract to build a footbridge in Orihuela (Valencian Community). The footbridge budget is €944,000 and it is planned to be completed within an eleven-month time frame. The new footbridge, named ‘Correntías’, will be placed in one of the entrances of Orihuela. It will substitute an existing metal footbridge which is in a very bad condition and will grant full accessibility to the crossing. ‘Correntías’ footbridge is going to connect Obispo Rocamora St with Bigastro Rd spanning over the Levante high-speed railway line that crosses the town. The new structure will provide a renovated aesthetic to the site, with an adapted pathway and low maintenance requirements. This is due to the material chosen to build the structure, reinforced concrete, and the absence of expansion joints along the 170 meters of the footbridge. The Project was successfully developed and designed by the joint venture FHECOR-AudingIntraesa.
